Amauri Espinal is a U.S. Army retiree and military services professional whose career has centered on expanding opportunity and advancing outcomes for veterans, underserved populations, and individuals navigating educational and career transitions.

Amauri previously served as an Assistant Commissioner with the New York City Department of Veterans’ Services. In that capacity, he contributed to strategic initiatives focused on veteran employment, housing stability, benefits access, and supportive services, while collaborating with government, community, and institutional partners to strengthen outcomes for New York City’s veteran community.

Amauri brings to his work a distinctive combination of military leadership, public-sector experience, workforce expertise, and a commitment to student success. His professional interests include career development, military-connected student success, employer engagement, workforce development, advancement in veteran and military mental health, veteran advocacy, and expanding pathways to opportunity for underserved communities. He holds a Master of Social Work from Fordham University’s Graduate School of Social Service, is a Veterans Affairs-accredited Veterans Service Representative, and is certified as an instructor by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing in Veteran Mental Health First Aid.
