Military Student Career Coach & Employer Relations Manager

Who we Need

MissionWise seeks an experienced Career Coach & Employer Relations Manager who will play a critical role in supporting military-connected students with all career development needs, with a particular focus on engaging military-connected students, including veterans, active-duty service members, and dependents. In this role, the Career Coach will serve as a member of the Office of Military and Veterans' Services (OMVS).

Summary of Duties

• Coach military-connected students on a complete range of career development topics such as resume development, interview preparation, networking and on how best to plan their post-educational careers and find meaningful employment

• Develop and execute a plan for sustained and consistent outreach to military-connected students throughout their time at Fordham University

• Collaborate with Fordham Career Center to host career-focused events for military-connected students

• Develop and maintain relationships with a dedicated list of priority recruiters and hiring managers who focus on hiring students with military backgrounds

• Identify and communicate third-party resources and events for military students

• Partner with university department heads, faculty, and the Office of Military & Veteran Services colleagues to provide program-specific opportunities

• Act as the OMVS liaison to the National Association of Career Educators (NACE) and/or related professional groups

• Partner with OMVS staff and the broader MissionWise team to deliver exceptional services to our military-connected students, both at Fordham and MissionWise

• In some cases, work evenings or weekends to meet the needs of our students

Requirements

• Significant experience providing career counseling to military-connected students

• Significant experience planning and executing initiatives related to career development for military-connected students

• Significant experience acting as a principal liaison to recruiters interested in hiring military-connected students

• Significant experience collaborating with departmental and cross-functional colleagues in a range of university settings 

• Proficient skills and working knowledge of cloud-based and computer software systems, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and team communication applications. Knowledge of Handshake and Hubspot preferred. 

• Ability to work in the U.S. 

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred

• Direct connection to the military is strongly preferred

Salary

• $85,000-$90,000

Location

• This is a hybrid role, with work expected to be performed on campus at Fordham University in Manhattan three days per week and remotely otherwise. Travel between Fordham’s Rosehill and Lincoln campuses will be required. Additionally, travel to other locations connected to Fordham and to military-connected sites may occasionally be required.
